Taking a test can be a nerve-wracking experience. Luckily, preparing in advance can help us feel more calm, positive and focused. In addition to getting a good night’s sleep and fueling our brain with high-quality food, we can prepare and recite positive affirmations that ground us in the moment.
Affirmations are positive statements, directed towards your inner being, that can be said aloud or in one’s mind. Once memorized, they can be recited anywhere, whether you’re at home studying or sitting down to take a test in a classroom.
When choosing or creating an affirmation that resonates with you, it’s important to consider your specific goal and uncover any limiting beliefs you may have about yourself. For example, if someone tends to become agitated or fidgety due to the effects of stress, they may wish to use an affirmation that includes words like “calm” or “peaceful”. Affirmations also tend to work best when they are short, reasonable to achieve, and contain positive words and phrases.
