Our Services

CBT, DBT, EMDR, & BFRB

Therapists at our practice employ various treatment techniques to help you grow into your best self and overcome personal and relationship difficulties. The following is a short list of common treatment models we use.

CBT

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) addresses underlying “automatic” thoughts and feelings, gradual exposure to anxiety-provoking situations, and somatic management skills like relaxation treatment techniques. More specifically, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT) assesses traumatic triggers and how to retrain the brain to rid yourself of those unwanted thoughts and feelings.

DBT

Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) assists with emotion regulation and tolerating distress through deep breathing and mindfulness. It is based on the CBT model but adjusted for those experiencing emotions more intensely and having trouble with how to express emotions appropriately.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a type of psychotherapy used to alleviate distress associated with trauma. In EMDR, the client faces emotional events and memories in segments to reformulate thoughts and negate negative behaviors and reactions.

BFRB

Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors (BFRB) Therapy focuses on putting a stop to behaviors such as picking at skin or pulling at hair using sensory replacement objects, as well as discussing triggers and consequences.
