Cindy Lanham, LPC, Resident in Counseling Supervisor

Meet Cindy!

Expertise: Anxiety, Depression, Mood Disorders, Relationships, Premarital Counseling, Family Conflict, Life Transitions, Trauma

Techniques: Talk Therapy, CBT, Mindfulness-Based Psychotherapy, and Positive Psychology

My priority from the first session is to create an atmosphere of hope, understanding, and most importantly, trust. I believe we all encounter experiences that affect us in different ways.

My goal is to help uncover effective strategies that alleviate and resolve painful feelings, emotions, and experiences. I believe it is important to equip you with the tools to be successful long-term and instill confidence in each and every individual I work with. I would like to begin your healing journey with me.

I have over 20 years of experience working with individuals and groups, with adults, teens, and children. I communicate openly and employ traditional talk therapy, CBT, mindfulness-based psychotherapy, and positive psychology in the context of a trusting and warm relationship. Some of my specialty areas include anxiety disorders, depression and mood disorders, relational issues, premarital counseling, family conflict, adjusting to life transitions, and trauma.

I am a native of Northern Virginia, born and raised here in Fairfax. I earned a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from George Mason University and a master’s degree in Counseling, also at George Mason University. I completed postgraduate work at Virginia Commonwealth University. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, exploring new cities, spending time with my family and rescue dog, and volunteering for various youth organizations.
