In some ways, I may be a rarity, as I am a Virginia Native who grew up in the Northern Virginia area. I value being from Northern Virginia and the amazing experience of growing up in such a diverse area.

I completed Undergraduate studies at Virginia Tech (Go Hokies!) and graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Master’s in Social Work. I am licensed as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the Commonwealth of Virginia. I also have additional credentialing as a CCTP (Certified Clinical Trauma Professional).

I have over 20 years of experience providing individual, group, and family therapy as well as co-parenting counseling. I have 9 years of experience working within Inpatient and Partial Hospital Settings. Prior to my clinical work within the hospital setting, I worked for 10 years within the Department of Family Services, Child Protective Services Unit. In this role, I  worked collaboratively with families assisting in alleviating stressors related to concerns of abuse/neglect, domestic violence and trauma.

I utilize a variety of therapeutic approaches according to the client’s individual needs. I meet the client where they are, work with them in partnership to help them to be aware of their strengths, interests, and skills sets. My approach involves genuine caring, compassion, acceptance, and non-judgment.

I have particular interest in and experience working with children who have experienced trauma, grief/loss, and other issues related to child abuse and neglect.  I am also versed in working with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD and specialize in treating BFRB (body-focused repetitive behaviors).

I hold in a very high regard being a member of this community, and chose to give back through volunteering locally, as well as being a part of National organizations to aid others. I am very proud to be a Counselor since 2016 for the  National Police Week’s Kids Camp Program, through C.O.P.S (Concerns of Police Survivors). I am also associated with the U.S. Advisory Council on Human Trafficking, a contracted provider for the US State Department Medical Services Division and a member of the NASW (National Association of Social Workers).
