I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 25 years of experience working with children and families within the school system as well as within the outpatient setting since 2021. I grew up in the Northern Virginia area. I completed my undergraduate degree in Finance at Virginia Tech, and I completed my Master of Social Work degree at Virginia Commonwealth University in 1998.
My approach is to focus on helping the individual in self-discovery, aligning with mindfulness strategies of understanding self to know what they need and want and to speak their truth. Knowing oneself helps with establishing healthy boundaries, communicating positively and effectively, and having healthy attachments and relationships. My purpose and passion is working with parents, children and the family system. I learned through my personal experience how important it is to surround myself with people who understand the journey.
I specialize in parent coaching and facilitation of Parent Support Groups. I believe parent support groups that are open-ended, allowing parents to join any time is ideal. There is value in allowing parents at different stages of their journey in the same group.
During my free time, I love to escape to the trails of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia or Harper’s Ferry for hiking and disconnecting from the “beltway bubble.” Part of my approach is also practicing what I encourage others to do, which is finding a medium of self-care that allows you to recharge and connect.
